大蒜是我国传统的日常调味食品,也是出口创汇的好产品,我国年出口总量大约在50~60万吨,我省是大蒜的重要产区.由于大蒜连年使用鳞茎进行无性繁殖,品种退化相当严重,几乎全部感染病毒,表现为植株矮小、条纹花叶、小蒜瓣和独头蒜增多,产量逐年降低.解决这一问题的最好办法是利用组织培养等现代生物技术进行脱毒和新品种选育,如日本培养的巨型大蒜,株高60cm、叶长28cm、叶宽5cm,单株蒜苔重50g,单株蒜头重300~500g.
