会议于1989年12月2～5日在广东省宝安县召开。出席会议的有指导组成员、顾问、卫生部卫生防疫司及有关单位代表共24人。会议主要内容为交流1988年第七次会议以来全国丝虫病防治、监测和科研工作的进展情况,总结分析各地实施监测工作以来的资料,讨论今后丝虫病防治、监测工作任务和提出1990～1992年丝虫病重点科研项目的建议。
The meeting was held in Baoan County, Guangdong Province from December 2 to December 1989. A total of 24 people attended the meeting including members of the steering group, consultants, health and epidemic prevention departments of the Ministry of Health, and representatives from relevant agencies. The main content of the conference was the exchange of information on the progress of prevention, monitoring and scientific research on filariasis throughout the country since the Seventh Conference in 1988, the data from monitoring work carried out in various places were summarized and analyzed, the future tasks of prevention and control of filariasis and monitoring tasks were discussed, Suggestions for major research projects on filariasis in 1992.
