素爱湘版图书。只是,囿于所谓的专业范畴,更缘于自己的孤陋少知,所置者大多限于文艺、岳麓至多包括教育诸社的“产品”。进入九十年代,直接、间接地读到不少介绍《时间简史》等著作的文字,心中不时泛起欲识其面目的“蠢动”;恰好,到了一九九五年,湖南科技出版社适时地推出了包括该书在内的《第一推动丛书》,科盲如我终于为那“蠢动”所激发,未能守住原来的阵脚,迢迢千里寄款邮购,不久,九本装帧漂亮的新书自长沙“飞”至案头。于是,迫不及待地从《时间简史》起读,居然并不费力就沉醉了进去;顺次又读了《时间简史续编》
