Nanjing Yonghe Mansion Receives United Nations Award On December 22, Nanjing Summer Palace was recently awarded the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Cultural Heritage Protection Prize in 2014 for its protective repairs to Republican architecture, the only award-winning event in China this year. There are totally 26 historic buildings built in 1920 to 1930 in the Summer Palace. It is the largest preserved garden house in the Republic of China and the foreign embassy district now preserved in Nanjing.
