Thermometers based on the thermoelectric effect have been used for many years and use thermocouples composed of two metal wires as temperature sensors. If the junction of the thermocouple is at a different temperature, the current will flow in the line and the amount of current will be proportional to the material properties and the temperature difference between the two end points. These sensors are robust, inexpensive, available in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are suitable for use in a wide temperature range, such as temperature measurement of plating bath plating baths.
