举世瞩目的中国无锡灵山大佛建造工程,自1994年10月20日奠基以来,得到省市领导亲自关怀,中国佛协倾力支持,社会各界共襄义举,而进展顺利。年内将按计划完成施工和安装。座高88米的青铜释迦牟尼佛立像的建造,目前在国内外尚属首举。如同中国佛教协会会长赵朴初居士所言,这不仅是中国佛教界的一件大事,而且是世界文化发展中的一件大事。国运昌盛而佛教兴,社会繁荣则万代颂。我国北方有山西云岗大佛、中原有河南龙门大佛、西部有四川乐山大佛,这些佛像是北魏和盛唐时期建造的。近几年,香港造了天坛大佛,现在,无锡的灵山在佛正放在东方。这样,东、西、南、北、中五方就有了五尊佛像。
Since its groundbreaking on October 20, 1994, the world-renowned Lingshan Buddha Project in Wuxi, China has received the caring of the leaders of provinces and cities, the pure support of China’s Buddhist Association and the support of all walks of life in society. Construction and installation will be completed as planned during the year. The 88-meter-high bronze Buddha Sakyamuni Buddha statue is still the first place at home and abroad. As the founder of the Buddhist Association of China, Zhao Puchu, put it, this is not only a major event for the Chinese Buddhist community but also a major event in the development of world culture. Prosperous country and Buddhism Hing, prosperous society is sung on behalf of all generations. In northern China, there are the giant Buddha of YunNan in Shanxi Province, the big Buddha of Longmen in Henan Province in the Central Plains, and the Leshan Giant Buddha of Sichuan in the west. These statues were constructed during the Northern Wei and Tang dynasties. In recent years, Hong Kong has created the Giant Buddha, and now, the Lingshan Buddha in Wuxi is on the east. In this way, there are five Buddha statues in East, West, South, North and Central China.
