Elbit Computer Israel has developed the Opher infrared guidance system that can be mounted on the Mk82 and Mk83 universal bombs. The company emphatically pointed out that a bomb equipped with such a passive system is a point-source target for attacking a tank like this, regardless of the type of weapon it emits and is lightweight. The Opher system’s seeker incorporates an infrared scanning system with optical telescopes and two mirrors with an oscillation frequency of 20 Hz and 1500 Hz, respectively.
