From September 18 to 20, 1986, an international academic seminar on the basic theory of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete was held in our institute. The conference was initiated by Prof. Ding Dazhao and co-sponsored by national and international academic institutions such as the Chinese Architectural Society, the American Concrete Institute, and the European Concrete Committee. 161 delegates from 22 countries and regions on five continents participated in the conference, including Prof. TPTassis, Chairman of the European Concrete Commission, Prof. Franco Levi, Honorary Chairman, Prof. MP Nielsen, Chairman of Danish Civil Society, Prof. Andrzej Ryzynski, President of Poznan University, Poland. in
