数据库产业是信息产业的重要组成部分,数据库的生产、使用和发展情况常被用来衡量一个国家信息技术、信息产业的发展水平.韩国的数据库产业起步较晚,但由于政府和民间极为重视,发展较快.韩国的建库工作始于1978年,到1993年3月,韩国全国共有数据库提供单位200家,增值网业者40家,共424个数据库.有鉴于信息对社会发展与工商业的重要性,韩国政府采取了以下一连串措施,以促进数据库产业的发展.
