诰命,是指古代封建帝王制发下达的命令文书及封赠有功官员或赐给爵位名号而颁发的一种凭证,它是封建帝王权力的载体和象征。平阳县博物馆珍藏有明崇祯二年诰命一帧,该诰命主要记述了明福建布政使司右参政兼按察司佥事周应期的主要政绩事状,及其本人与妻子所受朝廷封赠诸事。时代特征明显,具有较高的历史、文化艺术和文献价值。本文对该诰命所反映的诰命历史、职官制度、封赠制度、诰命文化艺术内涵及温州地方历史人物生平事迹等方面的内容作初步的考述和探讨。
