日本花柏原产于日本,是荒山造林和城市绿化的优良树种。大连市于1982年始,从山东崂山和昆嵛山林场引进该树种,营造100亩试验林。经8年的引种造林试验,该树种表现出生长快、抗寒、抗旱、抗风、抗病虫害等特点,6年生幼林平均树高、平均胸径分别为2.6m、2.5cm,是同龄侧柏的1.5倍;是当地主要造林树种、同龄的日本黑松林平均树高的1.5倍.为防止生理干旱,有条件的地方,可在11月和3月,灌结冻水和解冻水,有利于林木生长.
