花叶冷水花为荨麻科多年生常绿草本植物。叶卵形,边缘有锯齿,主脉两侧较有规律地排列着几列白斑,绿白相衬,深得人们喜爱,是不可多得的室内观叶植物。因其花蕾在喷水或雨淋时会射出花粉,故港台人又称它为火炮花和手枪植物。此花原产东南亚,性喜半阴,适于在潮湿肥沃的环境中生长。早期宜勤摘心修剪,以促其多发侧枝,
