地处苏州市观前街中段的乾泰祥绸布商店,是苏州绸布行业中的百年老店。乾泰祥创办于清同治九年(1870年)前后。光绪三十四年(1908年)苏州商务总会绸缎业名册中记载:乾泰祥,玄妙观东……1922年,乾泰祥业主周以谟在外听到自己店内所聘的经理治店松懈,私下又纳妾作乐,花费日糜,于是决意出盘。阊门中市介纶绸缎店职员何颖生,联络悬桥巷协记老板姚君玉等出资3.6万银元接盘,何颖生被推举为乾泰祥经理。
