Time Sections for 2D Seismic Measurements Many seismic floor charts, such as those by M. Hugh Miller, Jr., etc., show a grid of 2D seismic lines with a total line-of-sight mileage close to the number of miles measured in modern 3D measurements. Modern three-dimensional processing system has been able to insert multi-period two-dimensional seismic data into the three-dimensional offset data volume, do three-dimensional offset. After three-dimensional migration, the time slice and any line can be investigated as 3D exploration. This treatment has achieved varying degrees of success in many exploration areas. The first exploration area described in this paper was chosen from the Gulf Coast of Mexico to illustrate the basic steps of the insertion method. The article describes an example of the exploration area and a few examples of three-dimensional measurements for “controlling experiments.” The last example in this article focuses on Starr County, Texas
