Subsequent to the 20th century, black culture in sub-Saharan Africa embarked on a process of rejuvenation and reconstruction with modern significance after the expansionary impact of Western culture in recent centuries and the general decline of failure. This process was divided roughly into two stages by the end of Western colonial rule in the 1960s and the founding of dozens of black, non-sovereign nations. Independent and before the founding of the nation can be called black self-awareness of the awakening of the non-cultural revival phase.
