The anti-influenza virus effect of the herb, Lysimachia sp., has been demonstrated in chick embryos and clinical applications. However, after drug analysis, no antiviral monomer has been found. Thus, the mechanism of the objective antiviral effect has not been elucidated. One of the mechanisms of action of antiviral drugs is the induction of interferon (IFN), and attempts have been made herein to determine the effect of the IFN induced by the herb.
