《论积贮疏》“岁恶不入,请卖爵子”中的“爵”字,在文中当“爵位”讲,不是容器。但它是从“容器”衍化而出的引申义。“爵”的本义是“礼器”,古代祭祀时要斟酒,爵,就是盛酒的容器。朱骏声说:“凡酒器亦总名曰爵。”这恐怕是从广义的角度说的,一般地说,爵在古代的用途,相当于现代的酒杯,不过,它的形状跟常见的酒杯是迥然不同的。(如下图) 爵字的钟鼎文作
