A silicon-free nodulizer that has been pressed into flake form from pure magnesium and pure iron powders has been used extensively in foundries in the United States, Japan and Germany. Nodulizers are also used in other countries. This article describes the experience of some factories in producing ductile iron castings with this nodulizer and the properties of the ductile iron.
