Jabi’s military strategists have always attached great importance to studying the constraints and effects of the geography on military operations. The ancients Zhuge Liang clear statement, a wise generals should “know astronomy, in the observation of personnel, under the knowledge of geography.” King Frederick of Prussia put it more vividly: “Geographical knowledge, to a general, is like a rifle for infantry, and mathematical formulas are as important to a geometer.” Mao Zedong, the great contemporary military strategist, regarded geography as one of the objective material bases for determining the outcome of the war and warned “that all cadres should understand the geographical environment.” Studying the interrelationship between geographical environment and military action, that is, studying the law of interrelation, interaction and mutual restraint, and how to use these laws to serve military affairs are the important contents of military geography study. As an important part of military science, military geography is also a special branch of geography and belongs to the marginal discipline. At the two International Geographical Conferences held in 1990 and 1994, a new branch of geography was established - applied geography. Later, academia included military geography in the field of applied geography. With the development of economics and science and technology, the relationship between military geography and military operations has become even more dense
