从1978年开始我就在中国从事各种形式的投资业务,起初的身份是投资银行家。1983年,我创立了中国投资创业有限公司(ChinaVest Limited),这是第一家专注中国的美国私人资本投资基金。当中国在邓小平的领导下开始改革的时候,中国的经济还正处于百废待兴的阶段。在80年代初期,大量的资本源源不断地流入到中国大陆,先是通过香港,然后是从台湾,最终是欧洲、美国和日本的资本都被吸引到中国来了,这在当时是一个很令人惊奇的现象,是什么促使资本从资本主义的西方波涛汹涌般地流入到社会主义的中国来呢?
Since 1978, I have been engaged in various forms of investment business in China, initially as an investment banker. In 1983, I founded ChinaVest Limited, the first US private equity investment fund focused exclusively on China. When China started its reform under Deng Xiaoping’s leadership, China’s economy was still in its infancy.
