中国早期西洋画、是明清时期西画东渐的成果,是中国美术发展史新的里程碑。明末至清末期间、西方绘画经由欧洲基督教士来华传教活动、中西通商贸易、西方画家来华侨居传授和中国学生留学等途径在中国传播。主要包括清宫传教士画家及其中国弟子、宫廷画家创作,和中国南方通商港埠民间画家创作,以及留学欧美的中国美术家创作这三大部分。因此、这些西洋画具有重要的历史、艺术和学术价值。为此,编者特邀一些学者对中国早期西洋画进行题材和专题分类研究。包括:社会生产与市井生活风情画、肖像画、船舶与港埠风光画、风景画和清代来华侨居的英国画家钱纳利(George Chinnery)等,以连载方式向读者揭开中国早期西洋画的发展历史。
Early Western painting in China was the result of the gradual progress of western painting in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and a new milestone in the history of the development of Chinese art. During the late Ming and the late Qing Dynasty, Western paintings were spread in China through the missionary activities of Christian believers in China, the trade between China and the West, the teaching of Chinese artists living abroad and the study abroad of Chinese students. Mainly include the Qing missionaries painters and their Chinese disciples, court painter creation, and South China’s commercial port of Hong Kong painter creation, as well as to study in Europe and America, the creation of these three Chinese artists. Therefore, these Western paintings have important historical, artistic and academic values. To this end, the editors invited some scholars to conduct thematic studies and thematic classification of early Western paintings in China. Including: George Chinnery, a British painter living in China for social production and urban life style portraits, portraits, ship and harbor portraits, landscape paintings and Qing dynasty Chinese aliens, to unravel readers of the early Western paintings in China Development History.
