In this study, Toxoplasma gondii infection was studied in IL-4 deficient mice (C57BL / 6, C57BL / 6x129Sv, BAlB / c) and their corresponding wild type mice (IL-4 + / +). Mice were orally vaccinated tissue cysts. Compared with the wild-type control, the survival rates of susceptible (C57BL / 6 and C57BL / 6x129Sv two types) mice in IL-4 deficient mice were significantly reduced. The authors found that IL-4 deficient mice infected with Toxoplasma gondii, the body IFN-γ increased. While IFN-γ inhibits inflammatory chemokines, so the increase can lead to decreased survival. However, BALB / c is resistant to T. gondii
