Introduction The heartwood of Larix sibirica Ledeb. And L.gmelinii Rupr. Is highly resistant to decay. This is evidenced in scientific investigations as well as in archaeological discoveries and practical observations. The degree of decay depends on the active microorganisms and the environmental conditions. Under similar decay conditions in contact with soil, larch heartwood is 30% to 50% less heartwood decay than Pinus sylvestris L. The degree of decay of all investigated species is closely related to the density of wood. Two kinds of larch widely distributed in Russia, namely the natural decay resistance of Larix gmelinii and Larch is one of the important characteristics of the heartwood. The high natural corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties make this wood widely available
