This article reviews the symptoms of subacute and chronic superior vena cava obstruction and reports on a case of temporary occlusion of the acute superior vena cava and results of a superior dog ventricular ligation experiment. Clogging of the superior vena cava is often caused by pathological changes in the right thorax and is slower; these include: with or without fistula
