双茎棉是全国著名植棉劳模吴昌吉同志和闻喜县广大贫下中农在棉花栽培管理上的又一创新试验。作法是:在棉苗出现两片真叶后,第三片真叶尚未展开前,连同第三片真叶,打去顶部生长点,使第一、二叶腋间的正芽发育成两根主茎。因为两根主茎同时现蕾、开花、结铃,故群众称为“双茎棉”。
Double-stem cotton is another innovative experiment on the cultivation and management of cotton in the poor and middle-middle peasants of the famous cotton-planting laborers Wu Changji and Wenxi in the country. Practice is: cotton seedlings appear two true leaves, the third true leaves have not yet started, together with the third true leaves, hit the top of the growth point, so that the first and second leaf axillary buds developed into two main stem.
