2000年7月20日星期四睛银川昨日乘飞机到达银川,见到了宁夏民进的几位老朋友,受到热情接待。早上动身去内蒙古自治区阿拉善盟的阿拉善左旗的厢根达来苏木。一路上盟里的同志反复介绍了路边的植物。这里说是草原,实际上属腾格里沙漠,只能算荒漠草原,或者叫无水草原。植物的生长是很困难的。只有沙枣、沙蒿、沙打旺等几种植物可以勉强生存。其中以沙打旺为最好。我专门去拔了一拔沙打旺。一方面想拔出来看个究竟,另方面又不忍全部拔出来。毁了一株草,岂不是要荒漠草原更荒漠吗!因此,当我看明白根子确实比茎深得多时,就停下了,给草儿留了一条活命。
