In the late 1980s, during the course of the Soviet Union’s disintegration, the various ethnic conflicts left behind in history began to highlight prominently. After the “8 · 19” incident, the three countries along the Baltic Sea took the lead in gaining independence and the other 12 former republics successively announced their independence. The disintegration of the Soviet Union not only failed to resolve the existing conflicts, but instead brought a series of new problems.
