The northern part of this paper refers to the vast area north of the Qinling Mountains-Huaihe River that is an important geographical boundary of our country. With regard to the extremely close relationship between economic development in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Basin in recent history, a great deal of research has been carried out in the academic circle and great achievements have been made. However, the reason why Shanghai can develop into a national economic center is, after all, directly related to the important role played by other regions, especially the north.
