OBJECTIVE: To analyze the diagnostic value of ultrasound and X-ray in the treatment of rib fractures in closed chest injuries and to explore the feasibility of ultrasound in the diagnosis of fractures of the chest. Methods The ultrasound and X-ray findings of 125 patients with chest fracture diagnosed with rib fractures were analyzed. The detection rates of the two methods were compared. The ultrasound features and follow-up results of rib fractures in 276 patients with chest closed injury underwent ultrasonography alone were analyzed. Results A total of 164 fractures were found in 125 patients in the former group, 161 were detected by ultrasound and 44 were detected by X-ray. There were significant differences between the two methods (P <0.05); in the latter group, 276 patients were all positive for initial examination Found no new site of follow-up pain and injury. Conclusion Ultrasonography has obvious advantages over X-ray in the diagnosis of rib fractures in patients with closed thoracic cavity. Ultrasound can be performed on the patients with mild traumatic injuries and can be followed up.
