凤梨分为食用凤梨和观赏凤梨两种。本文所要谈的是专门用作花卉栽培的观赏凤梨。凤梨类植物原产于热带美洲及非洲,品种繁多,目前全世界已知约有60个属,1400种左右,但可供观赏的仅有10多个属。观赏凤梨一般作盆花摆设和观赏,还可制成别具一格的盆景。近年来,广东、福建、上海等地已从国外引种了这一绚丽多彩且富于异国情调的热带观叶植物。观赏凤梨植株约10—50厘米高,叶旋叠状簇生,近茎基部位的叶长度逐渐缩短,在植株中心互相抱合
