张家界黄石寨客运索道有限公司建在张家界国家森林公园景区内,索道架设在白沙井与黄石寨之间。主要设备和技术从法国 POMA 公司引进,为新型的双线往复吊厢组式索道,其先进的技术手段和全方位的安全保护系统,受到国家客运架空索道安全监督检验中心的高度赞扬和肯定。索道全长990米,运行速度可达9米/秒,单向运量948人/小时。索道营运所在的黄石寨风景旅游线是世界自然遗产张家界风景区的核心景区,也是张家界市旅游局推介的黄金精品旅游线路之一,素有“不上黄石寨,枉到张家界”
