At present, large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower projects under construction in China have been widely used in different types of admixtures. The systematic study of the effects of admixtures on the expansion of the alkali-aggregate reaction (abbreviated as AAR) began in foreign countries as early as the early 1950s. In the 1960s in the country, some exploratory researches have been done by our institute, Wuhan Institute of Hydraulic and Electric Power, Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology, and so on. Since the 1970s, our institute has also cooperated with the Hunan Water Conservancy and Hydropower Survey and Design Institute, the Daheiting Reservoir Command, the Second Department of the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of Power in East China.
