明太祖朱元璋年号洪武,在位时间 1368—1398。在中国历朝的开国皇帝中,只有刘邦和朱元璋是平民出身。而朱元璋的身世甚至比刘邦还低微,遭遇也更加悲惨。朱元璋,本名朱重八,字国瑞,出生于濠洲的一座破庙,家里上数好几代都是贫农。在水灾、蝗灾和瘟疫流行的时候,他的父亲母亲大哥相继死去。家里已是无米下炊,他只好到庙里去做和尚。但庙里也无余粮,他又只好云游四方,化缘为生,经历了很多苦难。这些痛苦经历,使朱元璋变得坚毅果敢。
