一.前言象牙红又名一品红、聖诞花、猩猩木,属大(卓戈)科(Euphorbiaceae)植物,学名Euphorbiapulcherrma Willd。原产中美洲和墨西哥,因其耐寒性差,在上海作为温室花卉培育。开花时顶葉发红,鮮艶夺目,襯以濃绿色枝叶,分外惹人喜爱。因为它在聖诞节前後开花,常用作聖诞节的装饰品,所以又称聖诞花。市埸價格及销售情况因花期早迟而相差很大,一般以早花为珍贵,因而怎样使象牙红提早开花,是种花者所一心響往的事。在上海园林管理处的龙华苗圃,我们也曾利用摘心、加温等方法为象牙红的提早开花作过
