Objective To investigate the effect of assisted reproductive technology on congenital hypothyroidism in newborns and to provide evidence for the safety of assisted reproductive technology in the future. Methods A total of 3444 newborn infants born in ART during pregnancy in Jiangxi Province from 2009 to 2011 were included in the study group. 555,513 newborns born during natural pregnancy were enrolled as control group. TSH levels and incidence of CH were compared between the two groups. Results The TSH value of the study group was ≥8.2 mIU / L, accounting for 99.34%, which was not significantly different from that of the control group (99.31%) (P> 0.05). The CH incidence of the study group was 1/1722, (1/1710) compared with no statistical significance (P> 0.05). Conclusion There is no significant difference in the TSH level between ART-assisted newborns and those who conceive naturally. The incidence of CH is also no significant difference. The recent assessment of assisted reproductive technology is safe.
