“The Great Gatsby” is the representative work of the famous American writer Fitzgerald in the 20th century. Ranked first in the 100 best English novels of the twentieth century. The plot is not very attractive, but there are many metaphors in it. The book describes how the poor boy of Gatsby continues to struggle but seizes his wealth unscrupulously, turning him from a poor kid to a rich proponent in his heart, yet hesitates to pursue his first love because of poverty The story of a lover who can be together reproduces the society of the 20th century “jazz era” of the United States and reveals the lure and destruction of the “American Dream.”
