水喷射冷凝器由于兼具产生真空和冷凝蒸汽的双重作用,早已在其他化工、轻工、医药和食品等部门广泛应用。我国栲胶蒸发设备中,二次蒸汽的引出,大都使用混合冷凝器——真空泵系统。虽然有的栲胶厂也用了水射泵产生真空抽取不凝性气体,但仍然要与混合冷凝器配套使用。为了提高栲胶蒸发效率,简化蒸发附属设备,笔者于一九七九年在开远栲胶厂设计了一套水喷射冷凝器,首次在栲胶行业取代了混合冷凝器——真空泵系统,一机两用。操作简便,维修容易,而且抽气量大,提高了蒸发效率,使原二效蒸发气的蒸发强度平均达到73公斤/米~2·小时,使用多年,运行可靠。
