From the 17 Philippine cases reported by Musgrave (1907), it has long been known that there is human parasitosis in the Philippines. In 1957, Yogore et al. Studied their morphology and called them the same as Paragonimus westermani. In 1978, based on some notable differences between Paragonimus philippinarum and Paragonimus japonicum, the authors propose a new species, Paragonimus philippinarum. In the meantime, the morphology of this new species is briefly described and some of the more detailed studies will be necessary to discover the demarcation of adult morphology between Paragonimus philippinarum and Paragonimus japonicus.
