After the war on terror began in Afghanistan, people from all over the world came to know a stranger or even a stranger from the media: Zahir, the ex-king of Afghanistan who has vacated the country for 28 years and has long been reclusive in Rome. For a time, Zahir has once again enjoyed a fantastical moment that seems to play an important role in Afghanistan’s future political situation. For a time, the Western countries such as the United States and the factions in Afghanistan seemed to be interested in inviting him out of the mountains as head of a future coalition government. However, he declined this invitation at the Bonn Conference on Afghanistan, which concluded in early December 2001.
