The Great Gatsby, published in 1925, is one of the representative works of the famous American writer Fitzgerald. It is a novella based on New York City and Long Island in the 1920s. This article selects two historical events, namely, Gatsby’s wealth and love. This paves the way for the dark and decadent meditations behind the economic boom of the “Jazz” and explains the reason why the American dream was shattered.
