1998年12月16日下午,一位81岁高龄的老太太远从海南来到信宜市老区办,讲述了一件50年前发生而鲜为人知的悲壮故事——熊宜武牺牲史实。她叫邱莲英,原住在信宜茶山平田村的芋荚塘,后迁去海南琼中乌石来浩新村。芋荚塘其实是在高山岭顶的小山洼。半个世纪前,三间小房子住着邱莲英与她丈夫邓家祥、家公邓新成及4个女儿。她一家人很穷,是从大水坑搬来的。
