Zhang Jing, a young painter who graduated from the Graduate School of Oil Painting of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts this year, recently exhibited a series of paintings and video works in plain writing on the Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art. These works trace back to two clues in the history of art: first came the well-known comic book “Governenda” by the Honorable Honoré Dumé, the greatest realist caricature artist of the 19th century in France. The cartoon portrayed the then French King Louis Philippe as a huge, fat man sitting on a lavatory, swallowing the gold sent to him by batches of porters. This
