The brittle-plastic model is taken as a simplified form of elasto-plastic constitutive relation considering the strain-softening characteristics of materials, and a new formulation of the problem of brittle-plastic structural stability is proposed—the damage surface disturbance method is proposed. The method of obtaining two stable conditions for the calculation of brittle-plastic structures was obtained. With K. Dems and Z. Mroz’s energy rate formulation and the corresponding solution path comparisons have the advantages of simple calculation. As an application, the stability conditions of the bending problem of a brittle plastic beam are calculated. The results obtained are compared with the energy rate algorithm.
