Currently, BAE Systems and General Dynamics Ground Systems Division have entered into a 24-month contract phase with the U.S. Army for the development of Hybrid Electric Drive Ground Vehicle (GCV) technology. If progressing well, the US Army will make the GCV Milestone decision in early 2013, and an engineering development contract will be awarded, which will last until the first quarter of FY16. At this stage, the two companies will launch a prototype GCV and deliver it to the military for testing, after which the US Army will select a company to enter production. The competition team led by BAE Systems Inc. also includes Northrop Grumman, Kui
