A few days ago I saw a variety show involving high school students. The host came up with a question like this: A car traveling on a highway at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, is it going fast or slow? Some students said fast, Some say slow, each different. Suddenly a student said the question could not be answered because of a lack of a reference. If the pedestrian or bicycle as a reference, that car is fast, but the air plane, the rocket as a reference, the car is slow. The student’s answer was applauded by the judges here. Obviously, the key to answering this question is to choose the “reference object.” Without the “reference object,” the answer can not be correctly answered.
