Twentieth-century economic policies are almost always partnered along two prophetic political lines; one is made up of conservative rightists who favor free competition in the market; and the other is made up of leftists who favor progress made by the government in controlling economic activity. In the past 12 years, the left has felt painful because of the demise of socialism in the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries, the decline of Nordic social democratization and the choice of the right-wing regime by the United States and Britain. The downfall of the left also raises many worrying issues for the right, since early defensive laissez-faire was usually nothing more than a fighting call against welfare states and private-sector enemies; with the defeat of its traditional enemies and with the total control of the right As for economic policies, the one-sidedness of their economic analysis has become very clear.
