山西化肥厂虽然自1988年以来一直处于试生产阶段且现生产规模仅有总设计能力的一半,但根据水平衡测试结果,总取水量达4.19万m3/d。其中本厂(扣除转供农村及外单位)总取水量3.30万m3/d。尽管该厂是新建企业,属节水型生产工艺,近年来又投资兴建一些节水项目,取得了一定的节水成效,但由于管理制度落实不够,浪费水的现象仍比较严重,居民生活用水指标高达280.4L/人·d,比一般城市生活用水标准高出一倍以上,主生产区职工生活用水指标767.1L/人·d,更是高得惊人。在目前技术经济条件下,山化近期可挖掘的节水潜力为7281.6m3/d。
