白云洞传说是道教八仙之一的吕洞宾驾白云来此洞修炼,所以又有“卧云”洞这个带有神话色彩的洞名。白云楼因洞得名。白云洞座落在荆门市北岭的青龙山西麓,座东朝西,偏南10度。面对象山,背负青龙山,幽静古雅,风物宜人。白云洞据清乾隆《三皇殿吕仙洞修建碑记》载:“……正殿扩大之,添建东西两楹,头门,厨寮,次第新修恭塑三皇圣像……三皇殿之修犹属有因,吕祖洞宾为创始……阅岁而正洞,并钭月成矣,阅岁而拜殿修矣,迄今数载,则前殿告成,周以辽坦。”白云洞内有“乾隆丙午年三春之吉”题字。从碑文和题字可知,白云洞
