“教学模式”这个概念最初是由两位美国人提出来的:乔以斯和威尔在1980年出版的《教学模式》一书中说教学模式是“一种可用于形成课程、设计教学和在课堂及其它场合指导教学的计划或范型”。把教学模式说成是“教学计划”,这在科学意义上是并不确切的。但“范型”一说却值得注意,这同《现代汉语词典》第791页上说模式是“使人可以照着做的标准样式”有相通之处。所谓“范型”就是“标准样式”,我理解。国内有同志把教学模式看成是一种“简约化了的理论”,如张武升同志在《关于教学模式的探讨》(《教育研究》1988年第7期)一文中说:“教学模式是在教学实践中形成的一种设计和组织教学的理论,这种教学理论以简化的形式表达出来。”
