京九铁路岐岭隧道浅埋富水特殊软弱围岩施工技术于1995年9月19日在赣州通过鉴定。 岐岭隧道进口段约280m,为极严重风化花岗岩地层,岩体已风化成高岭土,含水饱和,属特殊软弱围岩,岩体一经开挖扰动,即液化呈泥浆状涌出,是多年来少见的特殊不良地质隧道,施工难度极大,被称为“天字第一号工程”中的“天字第一号工点”,成为京九铁路南段难中之难工程,施工严重受阻,工期将被迫延长一年左右,引起了铁道部领导和各部门极大重视。铁道部韩部长曾指示:“京九看南段,南段看岐岭。岐岭通,京九就通。岐岭不能挡道”。孙副部长多次到隧道工地视察,中央电视台也几次在新闻联播节目里报道。该工程也引起国外一些传播
